Bush bashing
After a solid session last night and a 4am bed time Dave the Sailor and I were up early this morning and there is some exploring I’ve been keen to do out at 12 Mile Delta. Rob wasn’t around – most likely due to the two ugly chicks he was messing with. They were ugly…. and I know ugly. The area I wanted to explore … Continue reading Bush bashing
Skiing + Golf = Another Bloody Monday
Monday’s are good because everybody else is at work. However it is skool holidays and Dave the Sailor has arrived so I wasn’t sure how Monday was going to work out. I shouldn’t have been worried. Warren Miller got us pumped up last night so we were on the first chair at Remarks. After 3 runs Dave had his legs back so it was time for … Continue reading Skiing + Golf = Another Bloody Monday
First ‘real’ day of winter
After 4 holes of golf the greens were getting a bit too much snow on them to continue. A couple of beers later and it was still puking – so much so I had to chain up at the golf club for the 6km trip home. Here are some pics from this morning – lots of snow and the forecast is predicting 20cms more by … Continue reading First ‘real’ day of winter
May 25th, Remarks Ski Field
What an intense couple of days. Wednesday morning started with golf at Arrowtown. That blended into State of Origin at Malcomes. After discussing the meanling of life with Jerry, Malcome, Vince and Hughie I hit the sack at 4am. Hughie was later than that but he was up at 6am to watch bloody English Football on pay TV. Hughie woke me up for golf where … Continue reading May 25th, Remarks Ski Field
A-Basin – May 22nd
Al sent these pics of A-Basin through today – I have to ask him how many days skiing he has had and I’ll modify this post when I know. The Basin is going to be open until June 3rd and it looks like they’ve got enuf snow for it. Concrete Peak is due to open June 10th so hypothetically you could ski every day of … Continue reading A-Basin – May 22nd
Sunday’s Activities
I suppose I should do something on Sunday and when AJ’s call woke me up I couldn’t say no to a ride. After riding AJ and I had a few G & T’s at Shai’s place…. Then AJ’s woman (Jeff) cooked us a roast. Home around 1am – what a FANTASTIC day. And I don’t even like Sundays. I’ve got a feeling that Monday (my … Continue reading Sunday’s Activities
Concrete Peak
Friday arvo here and I took the dog up for a walk on Concrete Peak and I was keen to see where some of the bigger rocks are. I took a pic of the dog for my ‘online dating’ foto – I figure I can say that I’m a Maori with 2 legs and 3 dicks. Hahahaha. Continue reading Concrete Peak
Tuesday’s are growing on me
I am a big fan of Monday’s. Easily my favourite day of the week but the last couple of Tuesday’s haven’t been too bad. Today was Ben Lomond a 1400m accent straight up from town. Another gorgeous day although once on the ridge line the wind was much much stronger than we expected. It was a 5hr round trip and enjoying a rum now I can tell you. … Continue reading Tuesday’s are growing on me
Tuesdays are tough too
Tuesdays activity was walking the Greenstone Track (well part of it anyways). 5hr loop including lunch so not that far and no altitude gained but this is perhaps the prettiest walk I have done thus far. The walk started along the Greenstone River, then climbed a little bit to a mountain lake where we had lunch in the sun and then it looped back out … Continue reading Tuesdays are tough too
Back in Q-Town
I’ve been back in Q-Town for just over a week now and its good to be back. After the 35hr journey from Denver to Queenstown I was picked up at the airport by AJ and we went directly to the course. From the course it was back to Malcome’s until around 1pm where I discovered I was an OP rum bottle lighter. This pace has kept up all … Continue reading Back in Q-Town
Last day of Cat Skiing
After a pretty lame day last year, cat skiing wasn’t a top priority. But, with 8 inches forecast, some new terrain which is open and being the last weekend of the season Al and I thought we’d give it another shot. AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!! My faith in cat skiing is back. Second run of the day was this bowl below – little bit of … Continue reading Last day of Cat Skiing
Party Time
After a 5yr hiatus I am a single man again and working on getting my mojo back. I’ve been cleaning out some photos of the season and here are some party pics which I forgot to post earlier. We’ll start with New Years – there was a bottle of ’86 Don Perignon from Al and Jarisse’s cellar to bring in the New Year. 1986 is … Continue reading Party Time
