Spring Sabatical
The southern winter has come to an end and I’m now on a Spring Sabatical. A trip to the West Coast with the boys kicked spring off….. The whitebaiting crew…. Mush, Rocky and Vinchenzo. I’m diagnosing myself with A.D.D. – how can you concentrate when you see snow and the ocean? Someone suggested… “I reckon we can drive down the pier.” I volunteered to take the foto. I … Continue reading Spring Sabatical
Ohau I love to ski
Last couple of days have been gorgeous…. the snow has been rock hard though so it required some creativity. A road trip to Ohau was on the cards with the crew and Paul and Caitriona – nearly broke the subi but it will live on (unfortunately). A couple of pics from Ohau – this place is just terrible. Today the subi had to go in … Continue reading Ohau I love to ski
An Aussie, a ginga and a chink
Matty O, Ching Chong/Ping Pong and Craig are over for a week or more. Here are some pics taken today up high at Remarks. How else would you finish a day off like today? Continue reading An Aussie, a ginga and a chink
Pre Season
This is my 2nd attemp at posting these photos….. the winter has just started (well it rained today so it isn’t all roses and powder flakes). I’m busy as hell with work and I haven’t played half as much golf as I have wanted and the snow just hasn’t delivered this year. I can’t complain though as I’m living in a Mosad safe house, the Chateau … Continue reading Pre Season
Tramping
The winter is just about to begin (now that school holidays is finally over) and the troops start arriving today. Here are some photos I’ve taken since I got to Queenstown nearly 2 months ago now. Malcome and I shot up the Routeburn as we heard the waterfall had frozen…. That is the valley we walked up. And that is our ride back to the … Continue reading Tramping
Late Season
This will just be a collection of photos taken late in the season. My last stop before Queenstown was with Mr and Mrs Ryan in their beautiful home in San Francisco (sorry G – you did say “I do” so you are now Mrs Ryan although I don’t have the balls to call you that in person). This trip Cole took me on a ride … Continue reading Late Season
Wilson from Tennessee
After an awesome morning snowmobiling, Wilson and I decided to give up the fossil fuels and go kite skiing. There was no wind. So we went to the pub for a beer. After a beer there was wind. Wilson sacked up and despite no ’emergency release clamp’ he was ready to smack it. Now we know why the ’emergency release clamp’ was there. There was a little … Continue reading Wilson from Tennessee
The final day…
It has been a pretty intense trip for T & B and their last day was no different. Things kicked off early for a ski on hard and fast nasty snow but we survived until midday. Then we went kite skiing – not really enuf wind but got to play with the kite none the less. And to finish things off….. Continue reading The final day…
Big Saturday
Big Saturday doesn’t quite roll off the tongue as well as Big Wednesday but it pretty accurately describes what we got up to yesterday. 8:30am – departure from Hidden River to go hiking up Independence Bowl. 11am – Independence trip thwarted by anal ski partol so we skied an ever knarlier run. Red ripping up the highest ‘Window’. One of the best pics of the winter. … Continue reading Big Saturday
Smacking up the ‘Basin
Day after nearly a foot of pow and the snow is still fantastic up high. Tamatha, Bungy and I hit up the ‘Basin. Bungy down Zuma bowl – red is his line. Tamatha between my legs….. Continue reading Smacking up the ‘Basin
Finally some snow
This winter hasn’t been as epic as last but yesterday we had 10 inches on the ground and Al, Jarisse, Red and myself got our share. Darn Tuesday crowds…… Continue reading Finally some snow
T & B
Tamatha and Bungy are here – so far it has been pretty full on. A couple of huge nights to start off the trip – I think this was about 4am. Saturday crowds required a backcountry mission…… Sometimes the tow in doesn’t go quite as smoothly. Today was the first day I got to ski some steep stuff back here – here is the line. … Continue reading T & B
