Dave loves TC and Kiwi Matt has arranged some tickets to ski TC so the three of us went over there for the day.
I’m not sure about Dave or Kiwi Matt but this was one of my top 5 day of the season… The snow wasn’t epic and the lines we skiied were’nt “You Fall You Die”. For me it was the entire day which was just awesome. Here is a run down….
Leave Q-Town at 9:15am, would have been earlier but Dave forgot to use contraception a bunch of years ago. We drive at ‘Tom Speed’ to TC (I was driving – overtook perhaps 30 vehicles). Now we had doubts that TC would be open so along with the skis and board we packed 3 sets of golf clubs to play Wanaka if the riding turned to custard. So we arrive at TC – perfect blue bird, no wind kind of day. We had to park a bit down the road and anticipating an epic day we took our time getting ready.
Getting ready means…. having a few Crownies (we brought an Esky full incase we had to play golf) and hitting a few golf balls of the TC road.
TC Golf Course – right click and save target as.
That download above is my favourite bit of footage right now.
Here are some pics of the day – there is footage at the bottom of this post. The first pic is of the ‘accomplices’.
Scenery shot from TC – I had a really kewl comment about Matt spending lots of time on his knees but I’m going to restrain myself… he likes that too.
Ok now for some riding. This is a run that was pretty darn steep. The snow was that chalky snow that is kind of windblown onto slopes that are too steep for snow to actually sit on. Both Kiwi Matt and Dave ripped this line.
Nice run boys – I’m not sure how steep that looks here but that run was F’ING STEEP!!!!
And after that kind of skiing – we drive back home at ‘Tom Speed’, stopping at the Cardrona hotel for some Speights and finishing off with a few too many Rumbo’s overlooking Queenstown from my place. As they say… “I wonder what the poor people are doing.”
