Ice Racing

I had heard of some ice racing and today I finally got it organised.  How it works…. take your 4WD down to the local frozen lake, don’t go near the ice fishermen and race mano-el-mano.

Eric took his Pathfinder and I took Black Betty and we had a couple of races against each other to start things off…..

Start in three, two…..

Then we went into the competition draw and my first race was against this white WRX with some pimply faced kid who thought he had it in the bag against the ‘token’ Aussie.

The poor fella had a few things against him (despite his nicer/faster car)….

i) Little did he know that the ‘token’ Aussie has driven in the snow a little bit over the last 8yrs.
ii) Being the ‘token’ Aussie I was adopted by the old boys as soon as I arrived and they gave me a few tips (I was advised to unload the snowmobile, I reduce the tire pressure to 15PSI, a braking technique into the corners which I had never heard of was explained to me and I learnt how to line up the start line).
iii) During practice we picked out the WRX as being the weakest link.
iv) And finally, the old boys don’t like ‘Rice Rockets’ driven by young bucks.

It was a classic battle of white vs black, David vs Goliath, 4 cylinders vs 8, young bull vs old bull with more than a sprinkling of bullshit……

Here we are on the start line…..  The guy in yellow is the starter and the start/finish line.

The Dark Side is strong…..
