A couple of weeks ago I was invited to crew on ‘Akimbo’, a 30 foot trimaran, in the Brissy to Gladstone Yacht Race (308 nautical miles).
The last time I was on a proper boat was 8yrs ago and my sailing experience was never up to this level….
But I reckon the only people who say ‘No’ (in my experience) are bank managers and girls…. I’m neither.
It was a fleet of 72 yachts and we were 3rd over the line (2nd on handicap). It should be mentioned that Akimbo was the smallest, and least expensive boat in the fleet (the crew was priceless of course – hahaha).
Just like in Buller all those years ago…. Dave the Sailor and I were the ones last standing and just like in Buller, Dave was the last man standing.
More pics to follow….
Congrats on the 3rd place Tom. Not just a skier after all?
