Gorgeous Days

This time of year the weather is intermittent at best – normally it is windy enough to blow Christ off his cross. Thankfully, this spring has been gorgeous.

So I saw the forecast and I lined up a super early start. I was up at 6:30 – I didn’t know there was a second 6:30 on the clock.

After a run and a swim I was at the flight park for a couple of paragliding flights off Concrete Peak….

The take off order is most experienced to least experienced – although I’ve been flying for 4 years I only have a dozen flights under my belt. I’m actually OK with this because I learnt a few things watching Kate’s take off (Kate is the Doris between my legs) .

My take-off was all good and it was so calm I had time to take a photo. I’m supposed to land near that smiley face on the left…. Unfortunately (again), I didn’t line up the landing so good, I nearly ran out of runway (or smiley face) but I managed to land, hard and on my butt.

My 2nd flight was rough, lots of ‘thermals’ and rough flying although I had a nice landing. I’ve never had 2 nice landings in a row so I thought I should go and play golf with my mate Rob from Crested Butte/Queenstown/LA.

‘The Great Wall of China’ hole…. I’ve tried to take photos of this hole but I can’t come up with anything that shows how amazing this hole is. It is golfing eye candy. If you don’t make the fairway you end up in the sheep paddock…. here is Rob heading out into the paddock.
