What an intense couple of days.
Wednesday morning started with golf at Arrowtown. That blended into State of Origin at Malcomes. After discussing the meanling of life with Jerry, Malcome, Vince and Hughie I hit the sack at 4am. Hughie was later than that but he was up at 6am to watch bloody English Football on pay TV.
Hughie woke me up for golf where we tee’d off at 11:30am (Thursday). The weather was crap so after 9 holes Hughie and I called it quits and hit up town. We ran into ‘The Canadian’, the three of us had lunch and the Canadian and I cooked dinner before I sent her packing. After 6hrs of sleep Hughie and I were both on the road up to the Remarks for a hike/driving range session.
On this blog I have mentioned ‘my favourite places on the planet’ referring to A-Basin as well as; Big White, Daisy Hill Quarry, 22714 State Hwy 6 CO, Southside of Fingal Headland and Mana Island.
The Remarks is also one of my favourite places on the planet (it is a growing list). It’s hard to pin down but this is a place where I’ve had my best run EVER (Sherm was there that day). I can’t even describe what this place offers without writing a novel but I love this place and to be honest I haven’t explored even half of it.
So on that note I’m rather excited when Hughie calls me at 10am on Friday waking my drunken slumber.
We took our drivers….
Here is Hughie hitting straight over this lake – I have a couple of hundred fotos of the crew skiing over this lake but this is the first time I’ve seen it as water….. Hughie cleared it completely.
I was looking for a splash to film but Hughie being off a 5 is too long with a driver and cleared the water… so we headed to the summit. There was even a sign directing us…..
The summit is always worth a ‘Hillary Pose’ – Sir Ed didn’t have a brand new Calaway in hand and next time I’ll work on getting it a bit closer.
When climbers die… odds are they die on the way down. Both Hughie and I have read this and we are both very experienced mountain climbers (NOT). With this high death rate in mind we had supplies waiting for us on the decent. Orange juice (to avoid scurvy), scotch and rum to avoid pulmonary edema (thickening of the blood in the lungs) and coke and sprite (to mix with Bundy and Scotch).
A couple of scenery fotos for you guys. First is Hughie looking over Queenstown. The second is me looking over our grog.
Welcome to my playgound.
Now for the video clips (remember right click on them and then ‘save target as’.
