There are 8 weeks until opening day, so I wanna knock off 8 missions. I’ll ski opening day, then I don’t want to ski until August when the snow is actually good – hahahahaha.
First mission was the Brissy to Gladstone (new pics might be arriving tomorrow).
Second mission was ‘Queens Drive’. It is an old goat track across the front of the Remarkables. Red is ‘Queens Drive’, the purple arrow points to the look out when Chris proposed to Lisa.
My research said it was do-able, Paul’s research said to watch out for car sized boulders crashing down from above. My thoughts are…. I’d love to see that. I’m in.
Photos never do justice to how steep things are but this is the view looking down…..
The view looking up towards Double Cone – again it does it no justice.
Paul and I had those ‘car sized rocks’ in mind so we decided to cross each slope solo – that way we’d know where to tell Search and Rescue where to pick up the scraps…. Made for some great photos though.
That rock in the middle there – that looks big but not that big……
Come winter nobody would know this lake exists – it will freeze in the next week or so I reckon. I’ve skied over this lake maybe 300 times….. Some of the old boys (AJ – I’m talking about you old man) probably skied over this more than 500 times. 3 grooming machines have been carried onto this lake from avalanches – one written off and driver killed.
Fingers crossed for a big winter when we can huck off everything there!!!
Great slideshow! (pun intended, humour likely absent). This is shaping up to be a season and a half with only 2 adventures down. What’s next?
