Weekend Skiing

Today (Saturday) was as busy as it has been all season (there are 5,000 military folks in town for the weekend – you’d never guess we had 2 wars in progress).  The last 3yrs I have volunteered as a sit-ski pilot but this year I’m on the list as a volunteer ‘Predator Drone Pilot’.

Congrats to Al and Jarisse on your ski race results…. You might have cleaned them up Al but if I was a betting man, my money would be on Jarisse (unless Little Spoon is in town to take her out).  Thanks for the birthday present – I’m terribly offended!!!  Hahaha – I think it is great and I’m taking it with me to NZ.

I’d give the troops the shirt off my own back so today Chris, Little Spoon and I thought we’d let them have Keystone and we took a pre-emptive strike on Independence Bowl.

It invovled a bunch of walking…  4hrs of walking.  We started when it was dark and much colder than I had prepared for.

This is what we found at the top (that is a lie, the top is higher and you can see a black dot higher on the ridge and that is ‘Old Mate’ who sacked up for another 5 turns – what a legend).  First pic is me taking a photo of Chris and Little Spoon.  2nd photo is those guys taking a pic of me.

For all that effort…. we got 3 runs.  This is how we opened our account – first run of the day.  As a side note – it hasn’t snowed in 3 days.

Me, mid 2nd run of the day.

I’m not a fan of weekends but that was a cracker of a day.  Sunday is a ‘family day’ at Ski Cooper, a wee little field deep in the rockies and there is no way it can’t be a cracker!!!!
