This is Al’s idea – he does the $1,000 burger when he takes his plane for a spin somewhere and grabs a burger.
Today I took the sled out for the $100 burger (feels like I’ve been on it more than skis but I skied 4 days last week). The MO is… park at Vail Pass, drive 20 miles on beautiful groomed snowmobile dedicated run over to a little blinky town for an $8 burger. Then ride back. It was fantastic, averaged over 40 miles an hour and topped it out at 70 – the truck didn’t go that fast on the interstate on the way to Vail Pass.
It wasn’t supposed to be too good a day but I got some OK pics. First one here is one of the 10th Mountain Division huts you can stay at. Kinda like a kiwi hut – $10 a nite.
And for all the X-Country skiers who give me the stink eye……
