Big Saturday

Big Saturday doesn’t quite roll off the tongue as well as Big Wednesday but it pretty accurately describes what we got up to yesterday.

8:30am – departure from Hidden River to go hiking up Independence Bowl.

11am – Independence trip thwarted by anal ski partol so we skied an ever knarlier run.

Red ripping up the highest ‘Window’.  One of the best pics of the winter.

Bungy testing the snow pack.

Half way down T and I stop for a pose.

After that, Big Saturday moved to the terrain park where Tamatha showed us all how to ride a half pipe.  I think she got it confused with the downhill – first past the post wins right?  The pipe is at least 3 times taller than she is!!!!

As a side note a superpipe is 500 feet long, 56 feet wide and 18 feet tall.  Which makes it closer to 4 times Tamatha’s height.  Either way it is a monster!!!

Big Saturday then moved to the golf course for some X-Country skiing.  As you can see in the background,  I put the X(treme) into X-Country skiing (yes I post pics of everyone else making a dick out of themselves so I’ll sack up and do the same – I’m all for sacking up I just wish it didn’t take 5 minutes for me to get up).

X-Country skiing was fun, but something was missing.

In the words of Cole Ryan…. “FOSSIL FUELS!!!!!”

So we went sledding for a couple of hrs.  The sled has been out of action for 10 days – it would have been fixed quicker if I was redneck enuf to fix it with blu-tac under the guidance of my wife who is my cousin and my sister.

Hats off to my mate Robert who has told me more than 20 times….  ‘If you can’t replace it, you can’t afford it’.

12 Midnight – Back home after a BBQ at the Sanborn Estate.  I don’t like weekends but this one was OK by me.
