Nancy and Rob Good are mates from Queenstown. We are all paying property taxes in Colorado; so it was time for me to drop down to Crested Butte and see how they do this Colorado summer thing. As expected, they do it pretty darn well.
Only a short trip, but Rob and I managed a couple of rounds of golf – pics here are from the fancy pants course in CB but I really loved the country course at Dos Rios in Gunnison.
I bought my dirt bike in Queenstown from Rob and it was a good thing Black Betty was out of action….. I would have written the cheque out on the spot for his old bike. When I’m on a motorbike, my nickname is “Trembling Tommy”…. I’m all over the shop but I fucking love it! I rode my mountain bike today and I nearly killed myself because my last thought was that 6hr ride I did with Rob in CB.
I had to get back for skool but Nancy and Rob took me out on Colorado’s largest lake – Blue Mesa.
I do have a couple of more pics to post before I go. As I mentioned earlier – Black Betty was in the shop, I thought it was a $2K transmission job but turned out a $150 part. Thank you baby Jesus!
Anyways, Al loaned me the Beater Beamer again. The Beater Beamer and I go back a long way. A wee jaunt up to Canada and back in the depths of winter a few years back sticks in my mind. I can’t believe I didn’t kill Chris, Lisa, the Beater Beamer and myself on the journey.
This journey was lovely in comparison. However, I did ask the Beater Beamer to cross Freemont, Cottonwood and Boreas Pass. A couple of dirt roads and I got a couple of weird looks – the old girl did just fine. As a reward I took her to see some trains.
Top of Freemont Pass – my black one wouldn’t fit in there. You can expect a photo in the near future of me trying to jam it in though.
Top of Boreas Pass.
This is the longest I’ve been off skis in at least a decade. I seem to be adjusting just fine……
